When we started in the year 2000, we were of the belief that too many information technology "solutions" were sold by Value Added Resellers in search of a problem. As a result, enterprises were not achieving the expected return on technology investment. We believe that the problem was due to the structure of the information technology industry - the vendor, in this case the Reseller, was also the consultant giving advice to what was best for the customer - a role with clearly a conflict of interest. The role of a Reseller should not be the consultant but a vendor to provide products most expeditiously at the lowest sustainable costs.
We did not want to be bound by vendor contracts or product sales quotas that may work against the customers' interests, and that would also cause us to focus our intellectual energy on "deploying solutions" rather than "optimizing" IT functions.
Around the years leading up to the year 2000, there was an industry-wide shortage of skilled technical professionals. As a result, Resellers and other staffing firms also started to provide contract resources to "augment" the staff shortage for the customers, often at higher costs than permanent staffing. We do not believe there is long-term value in providing this service.
